Backwoods Camping with Isaac R: 25 Miles Off the Grid
When Isaac from our Brunswick service team needs a break from the day-to-day, he doesn't head for a hotel - he heads into the wilderness. His most recent adventure took him to Aziscohos Lake (Lac Aziscohos), a remote destination tucked deep into the woods north of Rangeley, Maine. And the best part? He made the whole trip in his 2007 Ford F-150.

Trusted Truck, Tough Trails
"The terrain was rough, but my off-road tires and 4WD made all the difference," he said. "Without them I probably would've gotten stuck. That old truck just keeps going."
What He Packed (and Why it Worked)
Camping at Aziscohos Lake is about keeping it simple - and being prepared. Here's what Isaac brought:
- Tent
- Firewood
- Fishing Gear
- Cookware
- Emergency fuel & radio (just in case)
"You don't need a lot - but you do need the right stuff."

Isaac’s top tips for remote camping & hauling gear:
Thinking about heading into the wilderness for your own off-the-grid escape? Isaac's got some advice:
• Always bring a backup fire-starting method (matches can fail, lighters get wet!)
• Pack an emergency radio and extra fuel, especially if you're far from cell service
• Know your rig - off-road tires and 4WD isn't always optional
• Don't overpack. The simpler, the better.
Final Thoughts from Isaac
“Get outside. Camp, hunt, and fish as you go. It's worth it - even if you have to bounce down some remote trails to get there."
Whether you’re heading to a campground or carving out your own site deep in the woods, Isaac’s story is a great reminder that adventure is always out there—you just need the right mindset, the right gear, and the right truck to chase it down.
